  1. **Estimated Costs and Financial Implications:**

  • Current Septic-to-Sewer conversions cost are $30,000 to $40,000 per parcel.

  • Environmental Utilities, a Private Utility, lacks access to environmental grants. These grants would alleviate financial strains for homeowners.

  • According to Charlotte County Ordinance 3-8-41, each Homeowner will be  forced to pay these costs whether you agree with them or not. There is no opt out.

  1. **Working Closely with Palm Island Estates:**

  • While Palm Island Estates (PIE) and Little Gasparilla Island (LGI) share a common goal in  opposing the application, they also recognize the unique and separate issues that each of our respective Islands face.

  • In a recent collaboration, both entities are working together to address these shared and distinct challenges. LGIPA emphasizes the importance of having its own legal representation for our homeowners. This ensures that if PIE is granted an exemption, LGI will also be exempted, given the recognition of the distinct issues each Island faces.

  • By working together, both organizations are committed to protecting the rights of property owners on both islands and presenting a united front in their ongoing battle.

  1. **Urgent Need for Representation:**

  • It is crucial for Little Gasparilla Island homeowners to have proper representation in the discussions and decisions related to the sewer system.

  • The Little Gasparilla Island Preservation Alliance (LGIPA) has been formed by islanders to represent the interests of all island homeowners and advocate for fair and financially sound solutions.

  • We have engaged the legal representation of Robert Volpe with the environmental law firm of Holtzman Vogel Baran Torchinsky & Josefiak, PLLC.

5. **Call for Donations and Support**

  • This battle requires financial support. Donations to LGIPA are crucial to protect LGI from potential adverse impacts.
